In terms of creativity, some categories just seem to lie fallow. Such was the case before Nufarm appointed Onfire to handle all its communication across print, outdoor, and digital for the better part of a decade.

From that point forward, Onfire saw every brief as an opportunity and the partnership bore many fruitful campaigns (if you’ll excuse the pun). From Horticulture, Growers, Forestry and Agriculture, including with retail associates Farm Source, Farmlands, Horticentre, and PGG Wrightson, the work produced by Onfire broke ground across all major industry sectors.

Over time, Onfire developed an in-depth knowledge of Nufarm, in particular, and the sector in general. By making the brand the hero, Onfire helped Nufarm strengthen and grow, delivering naming, brand strategy, new brand development, writing, advertising, tactical sales campaigns, and brand collateral.

While we dearly loved working with Nufarm, all good things come to an end, and we amicably parted ways in 2025. But it would be a shame to let all that experience and success go to waste. Despite being a world first breakthrough in the development of herbicide, Nufarm Crucial had failed to gain traction with New Zealand’s farming community. The scientific approach being used in promotions simply wasn’t cutting through. Onfire Design was appointed to develop a new campaign. It was decided that Crucial should break with traditional herbicide advertising and demonstrate the product’s many benefits in a way that would instantly engage busy farmers in an easily understood, less scientific form.
